Learn Spanish and experience beautiful Lake Atitlan and the Mayan Culture in a small town setting.

We are located in Santiago Atitlán, and colorful Mayan Tz’utujiles town on the south of Lake Atitlán between three famous volcanoes called, “San Pedro, Atitlán, Toliman”

Our teachers are prepared to give you the tools you need to work and play in the Spanish speaking world. Our classrooms are located inside a coffee plantation. It’s only a two minute walk to town or to the shores of Lake Atitlan. You will study outdoors under shelters made of natural, historic materials. You also have the option to learn the local Mayan dialect, Tz’utujil.

ECO SPANISH program is based on top down methodology known as Whole Language. This methodology immerses the student in the second language acquisition without the heavy use of memorization of grammar rules. Our method is a replica of how you acquired your first language from your parents when you were young. It has been demonstrated through extensive research that students who learn a second language using our methodology tend to retain their knowledge longer.

Our teachers have been extensively trained to give students an active role in the learning process so that they are able to learn fast. We have experienced teachers and the highest academic standards. In addition to our general Spanish classes, we also offer Spanish test preparation, specialized and advanced Spanish, and Latin America studies courses. We offer the option to stay with a local host family. You will get a private room with 3 meals per day with the family expect on Sundays. Eco Spanish is confident that your learning experience will be a success.

ECO SPANISH in San Juan La Laguna is only a three hour drive from Antigua and easily accessible via public transportation. We are a socially responsible education institution promoting the Mayan culture through cultural programs and demonstrations of Mayan ceremony. We coordinate social projects, internships, and volunteer work. We also offer travel services to students.
